Why did I choose Pon

For me, the management traineeship at Pon provided the ideal platform to be continuously challenged; Working at four unique companies, tackling four challenging projects, located at four different (international) locations  and all that in a 20 month time span. On top of that, the no-nonsense and make-it-fun mentality make the work not only educative but also very fun.

Pon Power is the official dealer for Caterpillar engines in the Netherlands. Pon Power provides total solutions for efficient and reliable generation and management of energy. The current market share of generators, one of Pon Power’s products, is less than 5 % and one of the strategic goals of Pon Power is to higher this market share. During my first assignment I will investigate the possible gains in the current sales. Furthermore, I will explore the possibilities of expanding into the rental market.

Santa Cruz Bicycles is a mountain bike company situated in Santa Cruz, California. They manufacture 16 models of mountain bike which includes a full women's Juliana range. They have grown tremendously over the past 5 years; margin has grown by double digits each year. Now they want to gain insight in their levers of profitability of this period.
During my six month assignment I will therefore make a profitability analysis of Santa Cruz bicycles, after which I aim to develop a strategy to increase the gross margin. My areas of focus will be amongst others the product itself, the selling methods, and the pricing strategy. I will compare those areas of focus with other Pon Bike companies in order to determine the key drivers of margin. With that I should be able to find opportunities in the current strategy to increase this margin.

Project 3 / Pon Luxury Cars

In this project I work as the Business Assistant to Paul van Splunteren, SVP Pon Luxury Cars, as well as Frans Klok, CFO Pon Luxury cars. In this role I support them with day to day proceedings and collaborate on multiple projects. Projects vary from a multitude of things, including but not limited to, strategy development, process improvement, and financial analyses.

Passion to perform

It is my ambition to get the best out of myself as well as the people I work with. After this traineeship I hope I will be able to work at different levels and in different environments, so I can build on the dynamic future of Pon. In the short run I hope to learn as much as I can during the traineeship about myself and Pon, so I can find out what my strengths are and what energizes me.
